Los Angeles Real Estate By Carrie Bryden

2062 Panamint Drive Los Angeles, CA 90065

I took some time off for the holidays and have settled into the new year with a beautiful new listing a few streets away from me. I have had the pleasure of knowing both the current owner and the previous one. Both wonderful neighbors of mine that have taken loving care of this home. This is truly a special find here in the hills of Glassell. Very rarely do you find a home with such a large amount of useful land that also includes Northern, Eastern and Southern views giving you a panoramic picture of the San Gabriel Mountains, to snow capped Mount Baldy, the hills of Mount Washington, and the city lights of Downtown Los Angeles with the added bonus of the Dodger’s fireworks during baseball season.

Step down into a quintessential mid-century living room.

And walk out to a view of Mount Baldy….

6801 Apperson St.

In my previous post, I wrote about an imagined mid-century modern gem, where one could live off the land, yet be close to the city…. Here it is folks, for only $599,000 on nearly an acre of land in Tujunga, just adjacent to La Crescenta, backing up to the Angeles National Forest, and just 2 miles to Dunsmore Park. I’m not ready to move just yet and unless Santa decides to bestow this gift upon me, it is available. I can just imagine gathering eggs from the chicken coop in the morning while the smell of fresh brewed home ground coffee fills the air, then maybe a swim before lunch.

Bring your horse, or get a goat to manicure the land… Chickens anyone?

“What I want for Christmas”

Seriously. I know, it’s terrible. I should be wishing for world peace, or some other selfless wish. I tend to wish that daily, so once a year I get to have an excuse to dream big for myself. For a while now though, I’ve been selfishly wishing for what, in my head, is utopia. An Eastside mid-century on a few acres. I could have my chickens and plant an extraordinary garden. Learn to live off the land, yet walk or ride my bike to my favorite coffee shop. All of this, right in the city. A stone’s throw from Downtown. One day…. hopefully not too far off. Santa?

What a cute new listing in Highland Park!

Want To Help The Eastside Community? Check Out Enrich LA

Ever heard of Enrich LA?

Enrich LA is a local non-profit established by my friend, Los Feliz local, Tomas O’Grady.

It’s an amazing organization that oversees several local, grassroots greening and enrichment programs on the Eastside, including Farm Feliz (Franklin Elementary’s greening project), Farm King at King Middle school, along with their new parent organization Friends of King as well as the Roosevelt High Garden, Hoover Steps, The Eastside Tree Team and the highly attended annual Eastside Eco Tour.

I didn’t even mention them all!

This group is working so hard to improve our neighborhoods, yet not many know about them.

Did you know that this organization has made it possible for Thomas Starr King Middle School to add a new Environmental Science Magnet beginning Fall of 2011?

The magnet is being funded by the community and this organization, not LAUSD! What an example of dedicated community members.

This is such exciting news.

As neighbors, we need to thank Mr, O’Grady for his dedication and sincere, honest, hard work! Click the link to email him a thank you note!
